Our Foundation

Three commitments behind every patrol.

Proactive Observation

Visible, attentive presence that deters crime before it happens - not after a call goes unanswered.

Community Partnership

A trusted liaison between residents and the RCMP. We escalate when it matters, de-escalate when it counts.

Cultural Respect

Indigenous protocols guide how we engage. Every interaction carries care for people, land, and place.

Services

Built for the way Sunshine Coast communities actually live.

Mobile Patrol

Observe-and-report patrols on a published cadence - randomized where it counts.

HOA & Strata Programs

Tailored security plans that work alongside boards, property managers, and bylaws.

Gated Community Partnerships

Gatehouse coordination, perimeter checks, after-hours presence, and resident liaison.

Neighbourhood Watch Enablement

Training and structure for volunteer programs that actually run year after year.

Community Safety Audits

On-site assessments of lighting, sightlines, access points, and signage - with a written plan.

Event & Seasonal Coverage

Short-term staffing for AGMs, summer crowds, holidays, and construction projects.

Coming in Year 2 - Community Safety Workshops

De-escalation, situational awareness, and cultural-awareness training for residents and volunteer watch groups.

Our Approach

Hyper-local. Culturally grounded. Professionally trained.

We were built for this coast, by people from this coast. Our work fills the gap between slow non-emergency response and well-meaning volunteer watch - with structure, accountability, and the cultural fluency to do it right.

01

Indigenous protocols guide our conduct

We approach every property and every interaction with respect for people, land, and relationship - not as enforcement, but as care.

02

RCMP liaison model

We document, communicate, and escalate through established channels so incidents reach the right responder, faster.

03

Transparent incident reporting

Boards receive clear, written reports with timestamps, photos where appropriate, and follow-up actions.

04

Trained, licensed personnel

BC Security Worker Licence, de-escalation training, first aid, and ongoing cultural awareness education.

Our Story

Born from this place, for this place.

The Watchmen was founded by Lenora Joe to bring a kind of security to the Sunshine Coast that didn't yet exist here - one rooted in Coast Salish protocols, accountable to the communities it serves, and partnered with the RCMP rather than separate from them.

We watch over neighborhoods the way we'd want our own to be watched over: visibly, respectfully, and with the long view of people who plan to be here for generations.

Community

Security is a relationship, not a transaction.

RCMP Partnership

Documented liaison protocols, shared incident formats, and direct lines of communication for the cases that need them.

Community Engagement

Town halls, board check-ins, and seasonal updates. We're known to the people we protect, by name.

Resources for Residents

Plain-language guides on reporting, deterrence, and what to do before, during, and after an incident.

From the Coast

What the boards we serve say.

They feel like neighbours, not contractors. Our residents stop them on patrol just to chat.

Strata Council Chair

West Sechelt

The written reports alone changed how our board makes decisions about safety spending.

HOA Treasurer

Davis Bay

We finally have a way to communicate with the RCMP that doesn't depend on calling 911.
